Madhuri Dixit

Madhuri is an Indian actress who achieved notoriety for her roles in Hum Aapke Hain Koun and Beta Saajan. She began her career in the 1980s and came to popularity with her role in Tezaab, a film in which she appeared alongside an established actor Anil Kapoor. In the following film, she was a part of Aamir in Dil. As a child she began learning at an early stage. She ventured into acting as an infant and was struggling for a few years as the majority of her first film projects were unsuccessful. Then she found her feet and was one of the top actors in the Indian film business. Following her wedding, she took a short absence from acting until she returned. Recenty, she had an important role on the film Gulaab Gang. The film featured the challenges faced by women in India. Dixit received fifteen Filmfare Awards nominations, of which, eight were awarded. Padma Shri - the fourth most prestigious civilian award of India is awarded to Dixit. She also has a reputation as a social activist.
